Interlibrary Loan Services - Temporary Disruption

There will be a short disruption to Interlibrary Loan services through OneSearch from November 22-December 6. Other library functionality may be affected during this time. If you need an item from outside our library or run into issues, please email the library so we can facilitate your request.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is a service offered to our students, faculty and staff to help locate and borrow resources that are not held by the KCOM Library. Interlibrary loan allows the library to help locate materials and request that they be sent digitally (when available) to be delivered to your email.*

Who can use Interlibrary Loan?

Currently the only eligible individuals able to take advantage of Interlibrary loan are the following:

Digital Interlibrary Loan Services (Copies of Articles/Chapters)

  • All students, faculty and staff on campus or remote
  • Alumni and Library Guests are not eligible to use the interlibrary loan service

A Quick Guide for Using Interlibrary Loan

  • Find an article or book chapter you want to request from our library online catalog 
  • If the article or chapter is unavailable online, please search again and choose the "Beyond My Library" (interlibrary Loan) search option
  • You will notice a "Get it for me from other libraries" link on some of the items on the search results list
  • Click on the link and use the "Get a digital copy" under How to Get it/Get it from other locations
  • You can also use our "ILL Request Form" to submit your request manually for items not listed, include as much of the citation information as possible
    • This is an additional menu item above the main search box
Watch your email
  • Digital items are delivered via your ****@kansashsc.org email account
  • Articles and chapters usually arrive in your inbox within 24 hours
  • The email will contain a download link
  • Please contact the library directly if you have questions

What Can and Can't Be Requested?

Please note that only articles and book chapters requests will be processed at this time

journal articles electronic videos or other media**
magazine articles eBooks
newspaper articles whole journal issues
single book chapters* psychological testing materials
dissertations (non-print versions only) posters presented at a conference
more than one chapter of a book***
textbooks for your courses
* We can request a chapter of physical or electronic books
*** Media materials are often non-circulating, and we may be unable to full fill the request
**** This is because of copyright restrictions
