Description: |
The Reynolds Child Depression Scale, Second Edition (RCDS-2) is designed for professional assessment of the severity of depressive symptomatology in children ages 7 to 13 (Grades 2–6) and to support clinical decisions regarding children’s mental health. The instrument is a pencil-and-paper measure and may be administered either in individual or group settings with the full measure estimated to require approximately 10 minutes to complete and with the short form requiring approximately 2 to 3 minutes to complete. Group administration to groups larger than about 20–25 children is not advised. Examinees generally receive instructions and then read the forms and respond to items using a 4-point, Likert-type scale, but the items are intended to be read aloud for children in Grades 2–4 or for those with limited reading ability. |
