A guide for the Saybrook Animal Care, Research, and Education with Dignity Professional Learning Community.
Saybrook Animal Care, Research, and Education with Dignity (SACRED) Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a group of Saybrook faculty, students, staff, and alumni committed to improving the welfare of animals and exploring the human/nonhuman animal bond.
To improve the welfare and relationships of animals, including people, through integrative research, teaching, collaboration, and service activities.
To maximize the beneficial aspects of the animal-human connection through the creation and sharing of resources, support, and encouragement.
At Saybrook, a Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a collaborative group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, or other stakeholders (or any combination thereof) who engage in shared learning experiences around a common topic or area to enhance academic, professional, community, and personal development. PLCs focus on advancing understanding of the topic in a manner that can be shared with others. For full details on Saybrook PLCS, see our Professional Learning Communities page.
