This guide outlines a variety of citation management tools to help you track and organize resources and create citations and reference pages.

Overview

RefWorks is a reference management service that supports the needs of students, faculty and librarians. With a streamlined user experience, full-text management and collaboration features, RefWorks gives students and faculty a tool that enables a more efficient and reliable process for producing research papers.

Cost

Free for Saybrook University currently enrolled students, faculty and staff.

Saybrook University has a site license for RefWorks to provide our community with a fully functional and supported reference management solution.

With a Saybrook email address, you can create an account and use it for the duration of your active enrollment with the institution. When you leave RefWorks, you must either export your contents to another free citation manager or contact the vendor for a custom price quote.

Strengths

References can include uploaded files, physical or electronic books or chapters catalogued at Saybrook, and citations on or referenced in external websites

View and annotate uploaded citations directly in RefWorks

Multiple options for filtering, organizing, tagging, searching, and sorting references. Includes tools to help edit references in bulk and to find and eliminate duplicate references

Multiple options for viewing lists of references, including features to help identify missing fields required for bibliographic formats

Multiple citation styles for output

Add references to RefWorks directly from websites using direct export or Save to RefWorks bookmarklet.
