APA is providing temporary free access (extended until July 1, 2020) to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th and 7th editions), and more than 160 other books published by APA Books through VitalSource and RedShelf. They also provide a free Academic Writer® tutorial: Basics of Seventh Edition APA Stylefree online seventh edition style and grammar guidelines, and A PDF handout guide to what’s new in the seventh edition (1.3MB).

 
 
CENGAGE Unlimited (Offer Expired)

Cengage is currently offering free access to its Cengage Unlimited Platform. This platform is essentially a Netflix for Cengage published textbooks. Please check out this flyer on how to take advantage of Cengage Unlimited as a student or a faculty member.  You can also create an account!

 

JoVE Education

JoVE is offering free access to all JoVE Education video content (over 9,500 titles) through June 15, 2020.  Faculty members who want to embed content into Canvas will need to request a personal account with JoVE. Please see their LMS Embedding Guides for additional details.

 

 

National Emergency Library (Offer Expired)

Last week, the Internet Archive launched a National Emergency Library of 1.4 million digitized books, available to borrow without our normal waitlist. It is an emergency measure at an extraordinary moment in time, when virtually every library in the nation has closed, cutting off access to hundreds of millions of books for teachers, professors, and students. To answer the many questions from our patrons and authors, we'd like to share this response.

In an effort to support COVID-19 impacted institutions and their students, RedShelf is actively collaborating with the academic publishing community to provide free access to their digital textbooks through May 25, 2020.  To search and borrow your textbook, you will need to create an account. To learn more about the program, please visit their RedShelf Responds site.

 

My Teachstone Learning Resources

To help during the current crisis, Teachstone is making some of its professional development resources available free of charge. Teachers will be able to access exemplar videos of real classroom footage featuring high-quality interactions from each CLASS domain. To register, click on the Activate a Product key and enter 5LMQ6ZQV23FNM56S. You will then need to create a username and password to access the courses

 

VitalSource Helps (Offer Expired)

Beginning March 16 through May 25, 2020, VitalSource will work with participating publishers to provide free access to an expansive catalog of eTexts will be available for free to students at semester-calendar institutions who have been impacted by the recent crisis. Students need to register for a free account to search and borrow up to seven course materials at a time. For additional details and questions, visit VitalSource Helps.

EBSCO Faculty Select

To support distance learning at institutions impacted by COVID-19 closures, EBSCO just launched a simplified version of EBSCO Faculty Select to help faculty easily find Open Educational Resources and DRM-free e-books to support remote classroom needs. Use Faculty Select to access over 225,000 Open Educational Resources (OER), as well as find and request access to unrestricted, DRM-free e-books from top academic publishers. Access is available through Sept 30, 2020. Please reach out to your library team to suggest a DRM-free eBook title for purchase.

TechSmith Snagit will be provided for free to organizations through June 30th, 2020. Snagit is a screen capture and recording tool that lets users quickly create and share images and videos to create training content, tutorials, lessons, and step-by-step instructions; Record meetings and presentations, create how-to training materials, pre-record academic lectures or supplemental learning content to share with students. To request free access, just fill in the form provided on their announcement page. They also provide a guide for learning how to use visual and video for teaching and learning remotely.

Starting on March 12, Adobe is providing free 90-day access for Adobe Connect, until July 1st, 2020. Individuals and businesses who aren’t customers can now use Adobe Connect rooms with up to 25 participants for free for up to 90 days.

Charter offers free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps.
