Shedule FAQ's

  1. I need an appointment today! How do I get one? The schedule requires that appointments be made at least 48 hours in advance. Questions can be sent to writingservices@saybrook.edu. In addition, students may utilize our drop-in hours.

  2. Do I need to have a draft before scheduling my appointment? No. You may upload a draft at a later time or email it directly to your writing coach. In many cases, students choose to not send a draft as they would like to work on aspects of writing such as outlining or selecting a topic.

  3. There is no one available, what can I do? You may add yourself to the waiting list and/or attend the Center's drop-in hours to receive support. As always, you may also email us at writingservices@saybrook.edu with any questions you may have about our schedule of availability.

  4. How many sessions can I get? Each student is allowed up to one appointment per seven-day period.

  5. Can I schedule my appointment(s) in advance? Yes. Our center is even open in-between semesters, so our schedule runs beyond the end of each term.

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, go to the schedule's login page (https://saybrook.mywconline.com). On the main login page (pictured below) you can either login (move to Step 2) or create an account by clicking on “Register for an account" (indicated by arrow). You will then be taken to a page titled "Register for a New Account" where you can enter your information. Note that you must use your Saybrook student email in order to create an account. Complete all mandatory fields and select “Create Account" at the bottom of the page. Once this is done, you will be sent back to the login page.

Login to the schedule using the credentials created in Step 1. Once you login, you will be taken to the schedule for the current semester. This will look similar to the image below.

At the top of the page you can see information and announcements from Writing Services. Below the announcements, you will see two columns with “Find an Appointment" on the left-hand side and “Today's Appointments" on the right.

Use the “Find an Appointment" column to find an available writing coach by entering your preferred date for an appointment. You may limit your search by selecting a preferred staff or meeting type. Select “Find Appointments."

Based on your search criteria and staff availability, you will see one of the following options:

  1. Perfect Match: Any boxes labeled as a perfect match meet the parameters set by your search.
  2. Close Match: The boxes labeled as a close match provide a reason that it is not a perfect match. For example, the session may fall on a different day or with a different staff member if you requested a specific one.
  3. No Matches: If no appointments are available within a reasonable timeframe, you may be directed to the calendar view to locate the first available appointment.

Once you have located a slot that you would like to schedule, select “Reserve" and complete the form. Attaching a file is optional. Select “Create Appointment" at the bottom.

NOTE: CALENDAR VIEW

If you were directed to calendar view, you will see the schedule for the current week with today's schedule at the top of the page. You may move forward in the calendar by selecting “Next Week" at the top of the page. Alternatively, you may also select the calendar icon and move even further into the schedule.

In calendar view, available appointments are displayed in WHITE. Grey and blue appointments are unavailable.

If you are directed to calendar view and require assistance, please contact Writing Services at writingservices@saybrook.edu.

Now that you have completed Step 2 and have reserved a slot with one of our writing coaches, you may notice no time is associated with the appointment. We know this is not ideal, but, due to system parameters and time zone variations for our staff and student population, “slots" must be utilized in the schedule.

After reserving a slot in the schedule your writing coach will contact you via email to schedule a specific time to meet on your selected day. This ensures that you both know the exact time of the appointment in your respective time zone! If you do not hear from your coach within 1-2 days, please contact writingservices@saybrook.edu

In some cases, students may opt to modify their appointment to update goals for the session or add/remove attachments. You may modify the appointment in the system or email your writing coach directly. If you would like to modify within the system, use the following instructions:

  1. Login to https://saybrook.mywconline.com/
  2. Select the “My Appointments" drop-down menu at the top of the page.
  3. Select the appointment that you would like to modify.
  4. At the bottom of the form select “Edit Appointment" to modify the description. Select “Attach File" if you would like to add additional files.
  5. Complete the form and select “Save Changes" or “Attach File."
