Interlibrary Loan

Request a Digital Copy of an Article or Book Chapter from Another Library

Step One

  • Search for your item in OneSearch, the library online catalog.
  • If the item does not come up in your search in OneSearch, click on expand your search at the top of the page:

 

  • Or expand your search from Everything (Saybrook Library materials) to Beyond My Library (Interlibrary Loan):

 

Step Two

  • Locate the item and click on Get it for me from other libraries:

 

  • If not already signed in, Sign in using your Saybrook email address and password.
  • Once signed in, click on the Get a digital copy icon:


 

  • Click GET IT.
  • Complete the Request Form and click Send.

 

Step Three

  • Monitor your email: articles and chapters will arrive in your inbox within a few hours to a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Can I use the Interlibrary Loan service?
  • A:  Currently registered and active students, faculty, and staff are able to utilize Interlibrary Loan.
  • Q: Why did I receive a cancellation notice for my request?
  • A: Possible reasons include: our lending partners do not own the item; the lending partner may have policy restrictions preventing lending; the item requested was a physical item rather than a digital item.

Important Note Regarding Interlibrary Loan Availability

While the majority of requests are successful, it is very important to keep in mind that submitting a request does not guarantee that it will be filled.

Reasons you may receive an unfilled notification:

  • Our lending partners do not own the item
  • Our lending partners may have policy restrictions that prevent lending the copy 
  • We are not able to fulfill physical item requests and your requested item is a physical item
