How to Format an Epigraph

The source of an epigraph is not usually listed in the reference list unless the work is cited elsewhere in the text of the paper or is important within the context of the topic. If the source of the epigraph is not included in the reference list, on the line below the quotation, provide the credit line—consisting of an em dash and then the author’s full name, a comma, and the title of the work (in title case and italics) in which the quotation appeared—and align it to the right.
